Please note, medical doctors, expecially dermatologists, want you to believe that there is no such thing as a healthy tan, and no such thing as a health benefit to be derived from suntanning. Then they want to sell UV treatments at $ 60.00 per session to treat acne, psoriasis, or other skin conditions. Anybody can see that this position of theirs does not make sense. Sun exposure either has health benefits or it does not. More and more research is coming out all the time, demonstrating these benefits. So why are doctors so anti-tanning?
Maybe it is because they prefer to sell you something in which they have a financial interest? Many medications and doctor visits might not be necessary if we all received a more natural amount of sun exposure than our busy modern lives permit. When you cannot get outdoor, sun, or prefer to avoid sand, insects, or crowds, it is very healthy to visit a tanning salon from time to time.
You should know that the FDA classifies suntanning beds and booths as Class 1 Medical Devices. A class 1 Medical Device is a device, like a toothbrush, that has medical benefits, and is not dangerous unless severely misused. Now, it stands to reason that if the FDA says a device has medical uses then there are health benefits
